Born in Australia Gary taught mathematics before moving to Israel in 1979.  In Israel he lived on kibbutz, served in the army and later completed an MSc at the Hebrew University in Jerusalem in Quantum Chemistry and a PhD in Space Physics at the Tel-Aviv University. Gary later studied at JPL (Jet Propulsion Labs), NASA, California working on the comet Halley rendezvous mission.

 

 Over the years Gary worked in a number of Hi-Tec companies including LUZ (solar energy) and NDS an early Israeli start-up which provided encryption services for broadband and broadcast content.  Gary also worked in the fields of oceanography writing papers on computational circulation models for lake Kinneret as well as at the Israel Aerospace Industries where he was a senior engineer working on mission control algorithms for both military and commercial satellites.
